Building Community by Building Relationships

Community shows itself in many forms.  At Baraka we have tried to create and sustain our own local sustainable community by supporting other US manufacturers and suppliers. Over the next few months we will be including an additional link on our website to feature some of our community relationships this is something that we are very excited about!

One important community connection lies in our infused salt rinse, designed and blended by a local Ayurvedic clinic called the dhyana Center.  Owners DeAnna Batdorff and Scott Jenkins created the nasal rinse and blend it by hand in small batches in their Sonoma County location. The infused salt has become a favorite of many Baraka groupies!  The infused salt rinse is designed to combat infections within the sinus passages; the essential oils used have been chosen for their powerful anti-fungal, anti-infectious, mucolytic, expectorant and decongestant properties.  While we call the infused salt our cold and flu blend, there are many people who prefer it as their regular rinse.  It is perfectly safe to use every day!

Besides creating a fabulous infused salt rinse that has become an integral part of Baraka’s product line and a helpful aid to numerous sinus sufferers, The dhyana Center is a wonderful resource to their local community. They offer a wide variety of alternative health services and classes, including all types of massage and body work techniques by a number of very skilled and knowledgeable practitioners from lymph drainage, hot stone, deep tissue and cranial sacral, to pulse readings and nutritional consultations, netra bastis, and full Panchakarma treatments. They offer a weekly donations clinic, as a way to give back to the community, and an educational program in 6-week and 10-month courses for training practitioners or for individuals interested in deepening their knowledge of Ayurveda. These courses focus on Ayurvedic foundations and diagnostic tools, treatment protocols, clinical aromatherapy, Panchakarma techniques and building a practice.  The center has also become the host to workshops and classes taught by people in the surrounding community.

If you have the pleasure of receiving a treatment while in Sonoma County, CA, we highly recommend any of the incredible practitioners at the dhyana Center.  It is an experience you will never forget!
